Parent & Child Teacher:

Parent & Child teacher for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.  The Parent & Child class often serves as a family’s first introduction to Waldorf education, and is considered a vital part of the Early Childhood program and entire school.  The ideal candidate has completed Waldorf Early Childhood training.  Sea Star is seeking a warm and welcoming person, with good communication skills, who has experience working with children ages birth to three in a Waldorf setting.   The ideal candidate also has experience working with adults, as we strive to not only nurture the young child, but also to educate the parents and the extended family members.  A sound understanding of Waldorf education and child development in the early years is required.

Hours and Compensation
The position is currently established as one or two, two hour morning classes per week (days of the week are negotiable) for 33 weeks on the school year calendar. The Parent & Child teacher is required to attend weekly Early Childhood faculty meetings, and is encouraged to attend full faculty meetings as schedule permits.   Compensation is $200/class.  Five parent education workshops are required per year with compensation of $100/workshop. This is an hourly position that is not benefit eligible.

Kindergarten Assistant Teacher:

The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher is an active member of the school’s faculty and participates in weekly faculty meetings, festivals and some committee work. Attendance at school events, parent evenings, and festival celebrations is required.  The Kindergarten Assistant helps foster a classroom environment of reverence and loving joy through the following activities:
·       Helping to maintain a clean and orderly classroom
·       Helping with each day’s cooking and dishes
·       Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, working with and caring for children
·       Assisting during all classroom activities and transitions
·       Modeling inner capacities such as compassionate listening, gratitude, stillness, warmth and creativity
·       Honoring the importance of play
Job Requirements:
·       Working hours: 8:15am-1:30pm MondayFriday
·       Meeting hours required: 1:30-3:15pm Wednesday2:00-4:00pm Thursday
·       Attendance at teacher workdays prior to, and after the conclusion of, the school year
·       Physically healthy and able to participate in movement activities, as well as to lift weighted objects and carry children when necessary
·       Interest in the Waldorf approach to education
·       Training and experience with young children, preferably in a Waldorf classroom 
·       Ability to effectively follow the guide of a lead teacher
·       Willingness to learn and demonstrate self-motivation in the classroom
·       Ability to work collaboratively with Early Childhood colleagues
·       Completed FL Childcare Licensing Course Requirements

First Grade Teacher:

Sea Star School began as a grassroots play group, starting a kindergarten nine years ago, and in the upcoming year will serve children from nursery through grade eight. Sea Star School is seeking a first grade teacher for the 2017-18 school year with inspired thinking, warmth of heart, flexibility of soul, and a collaborative working style to join our enthusiastic and hard-working faculty. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher, and formal experience teaching elementary students in a Waldorf environment. In addition, this candidate will have a Waldorf teaching certificate. Ideally this candidate is an experienced Waldorf teacher; although a teacher in training could be considered if it were the right fit. Current base salary for trained class teachers is $36,000 with increments for experience.

German Teacher:

Sea Star School is located in beautiful Boca Raton, FL and serves children from Parent-Child Class through Eighth Grade.  We are a full member of WECAN, and a growing elementary school that serves children 1st-8th grade. We offer a comprehensive academic grades curriculum along with specialty subject classes in Handwork, Art, Music, Orchestra, and Foreign Language.  Sea Star School is seeking a PT German Teacher for grades 1st– 8th for the 2017-2018 school year.  The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and formal experience teaching elementary and middle school students in a Waldorf environment. Waldorf certification is preferred. The person chosen for this position will be responsible for guiding each class with curriculum and activities that meet the needs of each developmental stage. Our creative and passionate faculty is seeking a colleague who will enthusiastically join the collaborative work with faculty, staff, and parents.

Movement Teacher:

We are a full member of WECAN, and a growing elementary school that serves children 1st-8th grade. We offer a comprehensive academic grades curriculum along with specialty subject classes in Handwork, Art, Music, Orchestra, Gardening, Spanish and German. Sea Star School is seeking a PT Games/Movement Instructor for grades 1st- 8th for the 2017-2018 school year. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and formal experience teaching elementary and middle school students in a Waldorf environment. Waldorf certification and/or Spatial Dynamics training are preferred. The person chosen for this position will be responsible for guiding each class and providing activities that meet the needs of each developmental stage. Our creative and passionate faculty is seeking a colleague who will enthusiastically join the collaborative work with faculty, staff, and parents; the possibility exists for the candidate we are seeking to work in additional areas in the school if interested.
This position can expand to a half-time or full-time position based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience teaching other subject classes such as Language Arts, Woodcarving, Handwork, etc.
