Amy Garnsey
Amy began her career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Haiti in
1990 after graduating from Millersville University of Pennsylvania
with a BS in elementary and early childhood education. Her experience
in Haiti led to 14 years of teaching in Palm Beach County public schools,
during which she married Barkley and they welcomed children Zoie and
Rohin, who inspired the impulse to join with others in pioneering
a Waldorf school here in Palm Beach County. Amy is currently in the
Waldorf training program at Antioch University in NH where she is
pursuing her Master's degree. After several years of working administratively
for Sea Star, Amy is thrilled to embark on the journey of Waldorf
class teacher. She is team teaching in the first/second grade with

Joan Hourican
Joan holds a MEd in Elementary Education
with Waldorf Elementary Certification from Antioch University New
England. She is team teaching the 3rd - 4th combination class with
Ms. Sazunic and teaches handwork, music, gardening and games. After
serving as Program Coordinator at Pine Jog Environmental Education
Center of Florida Atlantic University for 18 years, Joan is pleased
to bring her love of nature and experiential learning to the classroom. |

Charissa Johnson
Charissa has a true love and appreciation for Waldorf
education and the unique experience it provides children. Having grown
up in a Waldorf community, attending Waldorf School from Kindergarten
through Grade 12, Charissa felt well prepared to go on to attend Bennington
College in Vermont where she graduated with a BA in music/songwriting/and
voice in 2001. Charissa has made a joyful return back into the Waldorf
community, and has begun her third year of working with Sea Star.
Miss Charissa is one of the two Parent & Child teachers, as well
as Early Childhood Enrollment Coordinator. She is enrolled in the
Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training Program at Sunbridge Institute
in NY, and her five-year-old son attends Ms.Osmer's Kindergarten Class
here at Sea Star. |

Nadja Kranites
Nadja Kranites trained in Stuttgart, Germany to become a Waldorf Class
Teacher and High School Arts Teacher. After four years of full time
education, she graduated in 2005. Since then Ms Kranites has been
living in Florida. She is currently co-teaching the First Grade, German,
Painting, Clay and is Elementary Chair at Sea Star. Ms. Kranites is
married and has a three-year-old son. In her free time she enjoys
spending time with her family, as well as doing arts and crafts and
swimming.

Rena Osmer Rena
has been a Waldorf educator since 1985 and a trainer of Waldorf teachers
for 17 years. She holds a M.Ed., is the former director of the Early
Childhood Department at Rudolf Steiner College and is one of the pioneers
of the Lifeways Program. Rena’s gifts in storytelling, puppetry
and domestic arts are complemented by a calm nurturing manner and
the wisdom of experience. Ms. Osmer leads our Early Childhood program
and is Faculty Chair. |

Laura Pallan Ms.
Sazunic is a native of Argentina, and brings a wealth of teaching
experience with children of all ages and abilities. She holds a B.S.
of Science in Special Education, and completed her first year of Waldorf
teacher training in Argentina. She moved with her husband to Miami
four years ago, and soon after, she joined Sea Star Initiative as
a substitute teacher and had taught several subjects ever since. She
attended a course for Waldorf foreign language teachers in New Hampshire
and is currently in her last year of Educational Support Training
with the Association for a Healing Education. Ms. Sazunic is team
teaching the 3rd - 4th combination class with Ms. Hourican, teaches
Spanish, Handwork, Movement and is in charge of Developmental Screenings
and 1st Grade Readiness Assessments processes. |

Stacy Scheile Stacy
Scheile graduated in 1996 from the University of Florida with BA in
Religion and Psychology Post Bach. She discovered Sea Star and Waldorf
education when her daughter Layla, now 4, was 1 1/2, and it was love
at first sight. Stacy has been serving Sea Star since the spring of
2011 as the Nursery Assistant. She and her husband Aaron are thrilled
with their daughter's school experience at Sea Star, and are proud
to play a role in bringing this nurturing and wholistic education
to the children of South Florida. |

Cindy Smith Cindy
Smith fell in love with Waldorf education when her daughter, Madison,
entered the kindergarten at Sea Star. Her experiences inspired Cindy
to become a member of the Sea Star faculty, a team of teachers who
make a difference and deep impact in the child's formative years.
With a background and education in the healing arts, Cindy brings
her many nurturing skills to the care and guidance of young children
by assisting in the Morning Glory kindergarten.
